PARCOURS FRANCIACORTA

The richness in water of this part of the territory has been overworked not only from the barone Pizzini Piomarta, but olso from the planners of the new Franciacorta Golf Club. -Architects Pete Dye and Marco Croze".They have created a course that is technically compelling, rich in charm and at the same time "sweet" as its territory.Vittorio Moretti had the idea to build a Golf Club in Franciacorta ili 1984.

He was already a good building contractor, producer of good wines and, above all, he was a great passion for his territory. Mr. Tino Bino, an expert animator in the tourist activity in the territory of Iseo lake, has encouraged him in this enterprise. He has purposed him to buy a clay quarry and to convert it for the new use.

The idea was stimulant, and had to be a great project, because on took away an area from the vine cultivation.The initiative had been immediately accepted with great enthusiasm from the administration of Corte Franca's commune.

But there were only 30 hectares of ground, the half of the necessary to build the new plant and the most difficult thing of the whole project was to buy all the neighbouring lands.

In the meantime Vittorio Moretti was supported by other 18 founders members, one of then Tiziano Bertazzoni, who was always ready to solve problems with determination and he was the co-ordinator of all the initiatives and actions.

The time of the whole project can be heant as record time: in 4 months all the needed grounds were bought, in the spring of 1985 thanks to the support from Corte Franca commune all the approvals were given and after 8 months from the project's presentation the works of the ground began and after 1 year the first 18 holes were already !

Otherwise it could not be possible to move such quantity of land, to underground's km of tubes for water irrigation's and to plant more than 2000 trees foreseen from the Arch. Pete Dye as cornice of the most important 6 holes winoing alons the artificial basin of about 50.000 square meters.

First President of Franciacorta Golf club was Giovanni Cavalieri with Peo Tadini as secretarial staffs head, helped from Annamaria Spatti, who is still there with the director Roberto Ballini. The Club's President of today is Carlo Borghi succeeded in 1998 Luigi Leopoldo Rizzi.

The first club house was in old restored farmstesd named "Castagnola" to remind the columbary used from barone Pizzini Piomarta in his club. The new place was inaugurated officially in July of 1986 with a won competition by Maria Antonietta Fanti from Golf Club Bogliaco. In the meantime the completion works went on and 9 executive holes and the new clubhouse were realised. The project was by the arch. Paolo Dabbeni the big sunny club house has the ground stock technical spaces such as dressing rooms, sauna, gymnasium, pro shop and caddy master; at the first stock there is the secretarial dept, the council hall and an open space room with bar, restaurant, sitting-room and play room.
